So this was directed by Alan Taylor and and it was written by Ryan And of course it's looking like every episode for this season has Ti Michael as the story editor. So he's got a writing credit in every episode, but it was Ryan that wrote the bulk of this episode and Alan Taylor that directed it. Now, we said at the beginning of this season that we were expecting some big things from Alan Taylor, and boy did he deliver not disappoint absolutely. Yeah. We were looking at his portfolio, you're thinking big visual and then that first episode it was fantastic, but there was nothing there. But there was nothing visual so much in that episode. So I was like, okay, right, and then the next one comes along. This guy's did it. You're like, this is what we wanted, this is what he was hired for. Absolutely outstanding. I'm just blown away. I don't know what to think. So let's see where can we start. So we did start off with Demon at Harron Hall and lovely Millie's back yay. Another cameo from Milly loving it so good to see her. I couldn't understand a word, she said, neither did Demon in the beginning. No, he did not. It was very piggy, but I did where I. Did transcribe it nice. She said, you created me, Damon, you are now set on destroying me, all because your brother loved me more than he did you. This is what you always wanted, is it not? This is after she her head off. Yeah, absolutely, So then we have house towers and after destroying house Harroway. King Megor decreed that the strongest of his knights would have the castle, though not all of its lands. Twenty three knights. Of his household fought in the bloodsiak streets of Lord Harroway's town for the prize. So Walton Towers was the victor and was granted the seat, although he died soon thereafter of his wounds. Yes, it's not much of a prize. Megor gave away some of the lands of haron Hall to other lords in the area as well. So what he inherited was not the initial yeah lands of harn Hall, but he got the castle. The gods would some of the surrounding lands. As well, and as this family line decrease the lands and that they owned as yeah. So Megor Towers died at nine years old and fifty four ac. He was nursed in his last years by Reina Targarian. Oh really, and she spent from sixty one to seventy three acy. They are taking care of Megor and then the small folk afterwards for a while, and harn Hall didn't have a ruler until how Strong in seventy three ac after Reina had died. She was helping out with young Megor and helping out the small folk afterwards. And this is where I feel like it's a total MythBusters situation with the Haron Hall curse. Because we want to know what happened to the bastard? Yeah, where did all the bastards go? She's she's in this episode, so that's and she's essentially becomes a custodian again, doesn't she. Yeah, unofficial, yes. Unofficial, But I wonder if she if there's any bastard seed with Alice. Rivers, well, absolutely her. Being a Rivers, could she be a strong there's the question that she was now was she supposed to be the bastard daughter of Lionel. It was suggested that she could have been the bastard daughter. She was also meant to be a nurse maid to so no. She was also it was also the suggested that she could have been Lionel's. Nurse maid right, Okay, so yeah. She could be that old. Yeah, so that's the the thing with her. It's a bit ambiguous. It depends on how much you've believe she's a witch that bathes in blood to keep herself youthful. You know, it's that kind of thing in it. I think HBO have a history of downplaying the magic of ice and fire, yes, big time, like in a massive way, and I feel like we're getting a little more of that with House of the Dragon. We are. I wonder though, if George was tapping into because he has so much influence from. Sort of UK. History, yes, is he may be tapping into a little bit of witch trials stuff and all the falsehoods that came from the witch trials about the accusations. You know, I've never considered that actually, because that George does. Love about his al He loves you know, lore. And history and Greek mythology and yeah, Lovecraft and all these things that influence them that are pure fantasy or pure sci fi. But he also loves history, and that is you know, that is a very prominent part. Of history, the witch trials, and possibly maybe that is could be where he was going with Alice. Rivers thing. Maybe Yeah, it could be that, you know, just an innocent woman being accused of being a witch. Yeah, very possibly. So that's interesting, I wonder. But then again, there's some things that I've heard that Alice Rivers does later on that. I've only considered this sort of on the spot. Yeah, and it's only because there's a new place opened up in Fife in Scotland, and it's a Scottish Witch Trials Museum. Oh, we have to go. So that's in Leaving in Fife, and yeah, I thought that was really cool. I think it's the only one in the UK. And it takes about like eighty minutes to go around the whole thing. It's like ten pounds to get in. But apparently it's really really good and full of far fact, full of information and there's there's lots of stories about witch trials that were held in a place called Curis in Fife. Right. There's a story about a witch that was she was buried out in the sea not far from Curis, a place called tory Burn. So I wonder if these are things that George and his research has maybe come across and thought that's quite cool. I may add that in I wonder. Actually, yeah, that's really really cool and these. Right, So that praps Haron Hall history lesson for today. Well, I mean, don't get me wrong, there is still deathfinitely a few more things that go happen in Haron Hall, but none of them are. None of them affect our timeline. We have reached the point of our timeline and some freaky stuff happens there afterwards, by the way, and when we get on at Duncan Egg next year we'll talk about that, yes, definitely. But for now we have we're all cut up on Haroen Hall's history and the families that have demised beneath the roof. Yes, oh scary. So then we have we have a little visit from Oscar Tully. Oh yes, I've seen quite amusing. Actually sorry, So first of all, it's hilarious because we've said Oscar saying that he is his grandfather's heir to River Run. Which means they're cut in Elmo and Kermit and I'm gonna upset about that. But at the same time, maybe HBO thought Elmo and Kermit were just a wee bit, two silly. Names for TV. That's a shame. That is a shame, because I thought it was hilarious that this entire family were named after muppets. Yeah, but here we go. The line is going to skip Elmo Grover's son, and Kermit his grandson, to go straight to his younger grandson Oscar. Why was no one called Cookie? I know crooquies. Anyway, So my favorite line of the scene though, damon, my time is short and I have need of an army. Perhaps she might place a feather pillow over his head and speed alonger inheritances. His little face was like, it's. Just not her waist, oh dear, And he's like some of the Blackwoods any people that will actually fight. But then he has another dream later on in the episode, after this wee incident, and it's really weird, like he's following aiming through the halls of Haron Hall, but when he turns round, it's actually himself and it's just like creepyey, you've got issues, dude, He's so as issues. But then he walks into your sword in hand in a room and Alice rivers and yeah, I'm going to play the clip because I love this scene. She was fab. So touch late to be talking about strange castle putting its people to the sword. You I'm called Alice. Strong Revers, bastard. I just get to know me, I'll find I'm not so bad. What are you then? Some kind of masta in a manner speaking and heerit to the duties after the last one fled in the night. Why just never settled in? How are you settling in? Yeah, and he's taken he's taken what she said in the right way. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, he's not a stupid man. I don't know what the fuck he wants, no, except but but he is so clever and he knows exactly what's going on everywhere. He reads people very well, I think. Yeah. And there's that theory out there that he's actually like a green seaer that works into rats. Believe that, but yeah, totally. You know, if you could believe that's tinfoil, you know, that's how Laris is getting his information. But I choose to I think he just reads people. Yeah. I think he's very astute. And he's like, bumble it out, absolutely hilarious. Love that. It was quite amusing, But I love the way they were like, oh just they were so boring though, like they really really were. Yeah, and the second storms out of the room. They all just sit back down and they're like back to the conversation. So he's feeling a bit frustraight age and he goes to his mother for some motherly advice. Well, well that didn't go down well, did it. She was clearly not in the and I get it. She's cramping and bleeding and it's just such a pain in the ass. You just said zero patients one on that day. I did feel sorry for him by the end of it. Yeah, the luk on his wee face was a shame. Remember we were talking about this whole line about Melle's being no stranger to battle. She says it there, and she says it to Mellie's as well, off to battle again, old friend. And there's no record in Fire of Blood of her ever being in a battle. And so I was watching it was a westernros dot org it's Linda and Elio who wrote the World of Ice and Fire with George, and they take up the Wickie of Ice and Fire. I'm just not finished yet. But then eventually changed his mind. And what happened was somehow despite the fact that this happened, that line still. Made it to print. Oh okay, so it's. A complete error in the world because George has adamant that there was no battle that Mellie's was a part of, and yet this line made it to print and the show have ran with it. Oh well, who are we to argue with George or the show runners exactly? I mean, George said that the showrunners have ran with it, but there's no evidence in the histories of it happening. So here we are a small error the World of Ice and Fire that's just slipped through the by the publishers. There's another one actually I read about in the last week as well, was the Sidgel. When it was Denaries on our ships, it was the four legged dragon on those Sidgels, and then House of the Dragon have taken that Sigel from the Game of Thrones where they changed it, and partly George hates it. George is like, my dragons are two legged dragons, and they changed it to four legged dragons halfway through Game of Thrones, and then House the Dragon have picked it up as well, and with George and with George two, I mean, we've all seen the dragons. Those are two legged dragons. Yeah. The only dragon that deviates from that is Karaxis, yes, with the leg wings. Yeah, yeah, exactly. But still there's it has leg wings, but he still only has two legs. Yeah. So yeah, a couple of little blunders in the world of. Ice and fire there contradicting A what was written in the text and b something that was supposed not supposed to be. In the text. That's very irritating. It is a little isn't it? Anyway? Let's go back to the beginning this battle. First of all, like I said before the break call, just using the Rosby's silk Worths Darklands is dragon fodder. The first thing that we see in this battle is just it's like Darkling and Rosby shields all taken arrow fire. They're just those guys are the infantry. At a little funny moment, Gawayne's like, what's going on? Oh, Quayne? Honestly throughout this episode actually I'm noticing noticed it earlier on in the episode as well. Quayne's looking a little bit battle worn. Yeah, he's looking a bit tired. I think he's been humbled all. He was a cocky little get at first, and we've seen some real battle. He's you know, well, I bet he's never seen a battle like that. J Z Babes. Well, nobody'd had because once the dragons went in play, everybody just stopped. And looked at him dragon. It was more like dodging dragon fire. After that, every man for themselves. It was crazy out there, and like I said, once the dragons come into play, there's just strategy's gone. Strategy is out the window. You've just like to make sure dragonn fall your head or bleed on you. Did you see them settling with the dragon blood? That was so cool, but like ouch hot, So let's let's let's do this like player by player right first of all, what do you think it called throughout this scene? Yeah, you know, I love the way Mellis comes up underneath sunfire and attacks like that. But then she tried to do the same tactic on Vagar, and Vagar like grabbed her by the back angle and. Then start blasting fire in her face. It was I tell you what. I'd actually like to bring up the moment of silence, which was so needed because it was so intense and then you just have this darkness for a second and silence and. You've been holding your breath. Yeah. Absolutely, it was very very very very well needed, very well edie. Yeah, well placed. Silence is sometimes just as good as all the action. I've got a hole less about it, you know. God, I love the use of silence in the right places. It was just beautifully done, and then we would come back in with this slow mo and this you know, like music, there was music when it came. Back in, or I don't know, I was in a state of shock. I'm sure now, you know. I've like seen it six times and I'm still like sure because every. Time that bit comes around, I'm just like yeah, but yeah, it was. It comes back in and slow mo, and there's like figures You're trying trying to find our feet and get back up, and men are just diving left, right and center trying to avoid getting stopped on. Somebody did get stumped on, though, didn't they? I think so, yeah, yeah, it was like that that. Moment in season one, we had that one of those moments with Cracks. He's on the beach, who just stopped on the guy? This is a much bigger foot. So yeah, let's just move on to Let's move on to Rainie's. She had two opportunities to leave. She did, and I get that when she came back the first time, she kind of started to fly off because it was like just regroup, you get your head together, and then she turned around. She had a job, she had a mission to do. Which was to stop the attack on the castle. Yeah, to destroy the troops on the ground, but she also had. An opportunity to take out the king here. Yeah, so she was like something she couldn't walk away from, clearly. But the second time, the second time, she knew she was going to die. Yeah, what's the. Quote from the book? With a glad cry and a crack of her whip, she turned towards her foe. M glad they didn't use whips. I think it maybe we've made them less sympathetic. Yeah, I think for me, the scene with Rainie and Relise, she she looks her dragon in the eye and there's that eye contact and that right, okay, we're going to do this. We both know this is a Camacazi mission. Yeah. And then the moment when Vegar's got her by the neck and the light leaves her eyes. Oh, oh so sad. Definitely you've seen that dragon with the life just disappear from. Oh so sad. I would say that's the saddest death. Definitely, without a doubt, doubt that the dragon was dead before it hit the ground. But oh, Rainie's as well, I mean, she totally she she. Just accepted herself actually accepted that. She was so brave and oh just just heartbreaking but phenomenal to watch it was. It was amazing scene. And when the dragons hit the ground, there's this like explosion. Yeah we saw twice. We saw with Mellie's anthing, and I'm thinking it's like because they breathe fire and when they hit the ground, the impact. Of the air being forced out of their longs it costs. It's like a little mini explosion going off. And again speaking more of you know, dragons on fire, poor sunfires upside down flapping trying to get the fire off the wings and fall into the ground and trying to like get the. Fire off but turn around at the same time. And the agility that like, I kept coming back to the movement and the dragons. It was so impressive all round. But yeah, I just don't know what to say. I'm so ad and so impressed. Yeah, it was very intense. Oh, I guess we're we know. I'll wear a lot of the budget for this season, absolutely big time. I did love in that scene the little horse standing with PTSD on it. So when Coal was walking towards Egg Gone, Yeah, that poor horse, it was just like what the fuck. I'm not going to move. If I don't move, it can't see me. I know. For a moment then I thought Cole was going to go and get on the horse. Yeah, it was just like he. Took one look at that horse and went, yeah, the horse is going nowhere. And then poor Sunfire. Oh he's so broken, and just said she again, he is so broken. And Emond was almost going to take his chance, wasn't he. He really was a little shit. I he's although on my rewatch. I think it was yesterday. I don't really notice that again today. It's only because you brought it up. I've remembered. But yesterday, when I was doing the clips and stuff on that week, if we watch, and of course I just once I got all my clips, I just let it play on as you do. It's the dragon scene. But I noticed that the way he was holding his sword. When Cole says amen, he looks over his shoulder and looks a Cole, I shouldn't turn away and look over my shoulder demonstrating here because I'm turning away from the mic. But he's in the moment. I'm in the moment. So Amon looks over his shoulder and then just slips his sword back and he's scabbard, as. If that's what he was always going to do. Yeah, he played it very smooth, and he just say. And know, I'm just re sheathing my sword here. I wasn't going to do anything, honest. You see, he still has an element of respect for Cole. Yeah. They did seem to be a bit buddy buddy at the beginning of the season. It's the only person he's got respect for. Yeah, definitely. I mean other than well, he's trained, and they've been plotting and planning together as well, thinking that they know how to run everything better than the people in charge. Well they're not wrong, though, No, it was a solid plan mm hmm. In the book though, Egon was there with Vegar lying in wait. Egon didn't just drunkenly stumble into the fight. It was part of the plan in the book. I liked the show. I prefer the drunken stumbling into the fight. Yeah. I think that is just suits Egan's character so much better. I love Tongling Carney's facial expressions, you know, like when he sees Amond and were watching we should read you this is a bad lip reading. Obviously, there was a lot of the Greens soldiers on the ground there too, And then we said goodbye to Lord Darkland he seemed like a stand up kind of guy. He did. He was true to his word. Loyalty is queen to the end. And then we also lost some Rosby soldiers as well. Yeah, and let's not forget the Stokeworths. Yeah. Yeah, and some more Darkland soldiers. Those really did. There's not a lot left of House Darklyn. And finally we said goodbye to Princess Rainy's Targary. I'm going to cry. Did you hear my voice crack? There? Princess Rainie's targary and the queen who never was. This is a big loss. She's my fave. We're going to miss her. I'm going to miss least. Oh, I know, absolutely awesome. So rest in peace. Rainees, and rest in peace Melees. And all the Darkland soldiers and. Those Darkland soldiers, many many Darkland soldiers. Yes, And you know, after a while, I just lost track who was dying. To be honest with you, I don't think any side really won that battle. I'd also like to say a special rip to all the horses. Oh yeah, there was a lot of dead horses on the field, wasn't there There was? Okay, So that's the end of our ip and that was too many deaths till it's really. It was, and all those Darkland soldiers. Oh that's it, and now it's time for fun facts. So I had a look at the IMDb fun facts and they're rubbish. They're like stuff we've already mentioned or spoilers, so let's just not. Even do that. But I have one interesting fun fact. Fabulous. So do you remember last. Week we were having a little bit of a debate about whether or not Damon should be called Your Grace? Oh yeah, right, So it was bugging me and I had to go and look it up. And what I learned was that the title your Grace was not only for kings but also bishops and dukes as well. But they don't have a duchy in that world. They just have kings, queens and lords. They don't have a duchy. No, but the terms. So but if we were to go based on our own monarchy, Prince Philip was the Duke of Edinburgh, so therefore could have been titled Your Grace. Oh yeah. But the funny part of this is I want to tell you what it is. It's an abbreviation. So this is why suit's Damon to the ground. The full for style is the most high, noble, impotent Princess Grace. All right, Okay, I'm sure I love that. Absolutely love the full title. So it says, however, a royal duke such as Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, is addressed as your Royal Highness. All right, Okay, so a princess Highness, but a royal duke is your royal Highness. That sounds kind of bizarre, doesn't it. Yeah. So yeah, I suppose in a world where there's there's no precedent, so therefore no one has ever been called Your Grace as a king consort before because there's never been a king consort. Yeah, but I suppose there's a little bit. Of wiggle room here that you could make this a new thing, which is what he's trying to do. Yeah. Absolutely, he's demon. He can do what he wants. At this point, it's clearly working. Yeah, I'm calling them. They are the ones? Are you in anymore? I don't want to get fed to raxies. I know. I got my Cras T shirt on Angry Dragon Noodles.
