In this week's breakdown of House of the Dragon Season 3, Episode 6, we're finding plenty to love in the standout character work and performances, even while raising an eyebrow at some truly wild overarching adaptation choices.
We kick things off with The Butcher's Small Gathering, showcasing The CSI skills of Criston “these bodies have been moved” Cole, alongside a tragic omission of his iconic book death line—prompting us to send him off with a proper, entirely unmourned eulogy.
From there, we happily crown Gwayne Hightower the undisputed MVP of the episode. Watching him handle an insufferable Ormond Hightower while sniffing out an infiltration of mud-and-shite-covered fake Baratheons acting as living tactical jobby bombs is an absolute highlight.
We also head over to The Harrenhal Hatchery to soak in the spooky fortress atmosphere, marvel at the sixty-year-old dragon egg lore, and pick apart the increasingly bizarre off-book directions.
Finally, we wrap up with our foolproof geographical theory that Jon Roxton must be utilizing a literal shrinking machine to pull off those warp-speed, time-bending Westerosi road trips. Hit play to join our full, unfiltered dive into the latest Westerosi shenanigans!

Keep it Unreal
I found passage to brab Ars on a lurch and a cock out of laden court. We must draw as little notice as we can for a few days as we provision ourselves. But I believe we can sail before the full moon. I must interject, my King, I still feel it would be an error for you to leave West US. You would be best served at Castle Rock, where we can establish a court and enjoying those still loyalty. Do you think I'm a terrible man, so, Tyler. Hmmm, I would never say that. That is, while it may not have always agreed with every course of. What there is. In any one of us adventure, much to admire and much to be deplored. Oh, keep digging, Thailand. We sell for Sauce. Step a great clip. Absolutely didn't serve the plot in any way, shape or form, but it had me laughing, loved it, loved it so Sauce. They're off to then. Yeah, hi everyone, I'm for you on our And we are back with episode six of the House of the Dragon, which was called Faceless Men. And this is episode thirty two of Cast of Ice and Fire. Coming up. In this episode, we have got the Butcher's small gathering Confessions of a desperate step mother going saves the day, the Haronhall, Hatcheray and everything. We also have our regular dragon section and rip and then we'll be wrapping up everything else. So stick around, let's get in it. Let's do that. Welcome to the Unreal Hour. Great, So do you want to go first? Yeah, let's dive right in there with the Butcher small gathering, which should be Butcher's ball. Yeah, it wasn't quite a ball. I feel like the attendees were missing. Certainly on the height our side. It was really well done though. The battle choreography was really good. Oh, the fighting was really good. I wanted more. I would like to see more of the second part of the battle. I love the special first part of the battle. It was really cool. Yeah, special effects was great. Cole was lethal with that morning The. Morning Star to the face was that whip. I can never be a morning star. It's a morning start that flipped. I thought the flailip was the flail whip was the one on the chain. So his is a morning star only because I watched the behind the scenes and I know that he trained with a real morning star, so he knew, like. The weight of it and how to move with it. The ones that they made were made of rubber, I think, and then they filled them with it. Is it possible, though, that they've got it wrong, and it's actually. Possibly Yeah, But they called it a morning because that. Sounds more whip like, you know, yea, yeah. We need to look out of that. What's the difference between that and a mess and the mace is the solid one, isn't it? The mace is a solid one. There's a morning star and a flail whip or is there both names for the same thing. The answer is coming up on screen right now. So anyway, he was lethal with that. That was y. Yeah. I don't know if he's quite the greatest warrior of the whole time or in the Seven Ingdoms. Fabian I said in an interview that he wanted to portray that although Cole is classed as the best warrior, yeah, he's really tired, He's Yes. I did see an interview, so I thought, yeah, I get that. That tracks. Yeah, he did come across as like. I mean, he was competent, definitely. Was luggish with it, and so at some point he drops the big ball on the chain, he loses the sword and then he's just crazy stabby well ye know. He swings out of the guy and it gets stuck in his face. Yeah, brilliant. Loved it. It was so gruesome. I loved it. Yeah, it was very good, so that the fighting that we got was great fighting. It was. And then I did really like when they did the. Whole We Like the Way and they were so proud of themselves. Actually should probably mention how cool it was that there's all these dead bodies and they're like, oh, something's something's not right here. I was talk ces. I wasn't it. It's like, hm, this isn't the murder scene. These bodies were moved. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've seen that episode of Yes, I probably least fifty times. But yeah, that was cool. And then the whole We Light the Way thing that was really cool. And then we have the winter Wolves. Yeah, and in and surround them and there's so many of them, yeah, so many. Yeah, they were fucked yeah and cold. We Wingman's like run run where. Surrounded there's like fifteen of us and about five hundred of them. And good luck with that. Bless him though, he did give it. The whole We let my Men go sort of thing. Well, you go first and if you make it, I'll follow. We had some Tommy Flanagan dialog. We did, we did. I still feel he's not being utilized properly. No, No, he's had some great lines delivered well. Or he's had a couple of great lines delivered well. He's had ten words delivered well. And that was all these words. So everything he's done is been brilliant. But he hasn't had much, has he. No, So I think the payoff for that is coming. There's lots of stuff with Tommy that or with the winter Wolves coming that I think we will finally get to see Tommy flanagain doing his thing. Well, I hope. So there's only two episodes left this season, so times running out. Some of it might be next season as well though, speaking of payoffs, sough Kristin Cole. Then there was set up last week with that and they'll sing songs of my and the Lady Alison, I'll hear them thing. And then we didn't get the line. No, we didn't get the line. What was the line, Emma? You had that You wrote down the exact quote, didn't you? I did, yes, So the exact quote is I'll have no songs about how brave you died, Kingmaker. There's tens of thousands died on your account. Yes, And then there's three arrows loose. I was so excited last week. It was the only thing about Cole storyline that I've been excited about was that they set this up for. This iconic line. We didn't get it, so I'm a bit disappointed about that, But overall, it was a great fight scene. It was great to have a bit of action. Like in an interview that Fabian had said, I want Coll's death to be exactly as it is in the book. Yeah, No, I didn't see that. Was that in house that dragon's bulk, because I only saw inside the episode, the. One that's like eighteen minutes long. That's the lot of the house the dragons built one. Yeah, that was that one. No, I didn't see that one yet. I'll watch it after this. So, Yeah, it wasn't exactly as it is in the book because we. Had White and it's a different person. Yep, and we didn't get the line. Yeah, three arrows. Though the arrows were in the right places. It's one in the side, one in the chest, and one in the head. Well, one in the face. I kind of loved the shot in the face. The face was great. It was so good loving black Alley with her warewood arrows taking the shot. Yep, it wasn't her in the book, but it. Was great that we got a bit of her because she's got a bit of backstory that we haven't had. So again, going to Emma, who's done. Her homework this week. So, Alison Blackwood black Alley, as we know, she was sixteen years old and loosed a wood a werewood arrow into the islet of the helm of sir Amos Bracken after he killed her brother, Lord Samuel Blackwood in single combat at. The Burning Mill. Yep, yes, that's correct. So, yes, black Alley's badass, and she's only supposed to be sixteen in the book. Archer. Yeah, so we've. Got that tied in there. Oh yeah, that. Is her trademark, let's say. So, it's good that we've been given that. Again, she's not had any dialogue. She had a couple of lines in the song in the music video, but she hasn't had any speaking lines yet, has she. But we've got to know a bit about her at this point. She has more character development than Jeoffrey, so. We've got to see them this week. I mean, Jehah's got more character development than Joffrey. I think the cats have listen. We saw him last week as well, and it was exactly the same shot. He was asleep. It all looked very blurry, early two thousands camera work. It's like, what is this a dream? You know what's sad it's in the early two thousands. We thought that was really really clear, and then we watched stuff from the two and he's like, whoa. Is that our eyesight? Though? Do we have a clip? Oh? Actually the only other thoughts about the scene was Kristen Cole bringing out the favor that Allison has given to him, and it's like, when you think about people when you're going to die, and it's her, it's her that's on his mind. Yes, let's hear Cole's last words. Kristen, call traitor and defier of justice. Come forth to hear your fate. If I strike my banners when you spent my men their lives. I made a promise to the dead call. I told him I build a step out of tritus bounds. I don't have near enough bounds yet. Mm hmm. Tell he's are you bad at Yes? If there is to be battle here, many of you will die as well. That's why we call what bet Wait did I the blind? And you're so going to die? There? I think you're saying as you will it? Oh yeah, this is really are. You bringing out the favor? Yeah? I just rabbing jo Addie Day's work making you feel something? Did you feel something? Just the usual? For God's sake, get over it by let us. Begin to hear that one of me against the two of you? Will that be enough to. Make a fight of it? It was tea in the Bookie Yeah, Ope, there's the first shaddw Oh the last one sounded sorry. So in the book he asks. Long leaf, Yeah, no, is it not Garibald Gray. Garibald Gray, Roderic Dustin and longleaf, pit. Of long leaf. Yeah. He offers to fight the three of them honorably, and they all refuse. Instead, red rob rivers and two archers shoot him with three arrows, killing him before the battle truly begins. And then it's a slaughter. It is a huge battle. The slaughter was implied, yeah. But slaughtering fifteen men really wasn't how it went down. No, I think the fifteen men were supposed to represent hundreds and the hundreds around the outside were supposed to represent thousands. Okay, so where is the CGI budget going this year? On this savast board? It all went on egg On's armor. Oh that's funny. There has been a considerable lack of CD, don't you think there has? But I think there's been an enormative abount spent on building, like said Tumbleton flea Bottom, because they're not just going somewhere and shooting in an actual, already made town and they're having to build it. No, I would imagine behind the scenes where they took bits of Trahio and stuff and rebuilt that. To create Tumbleton. Yeah, that was. That was last week or the week before. It was cool. It was for those of you that don't know, they used to filming Trehio and season one and two. Yes, yes, it's only this season that. They've got their purpose build sets. Now. It's cool, very cool. So the river men that were the bait, they were a bit of sacrificial lamb. You know, you've got an army that size, you don't expect to be slaughtered like that. They looked like they've been dead for a while though, So I wonder if they just chucked some dead guys on a cart that had already been killed in battle. Yeah, and thought right, oh, we're not taking them all the way home. We'll just repurpose them. Yeah, totally. I wouldn't like to be in the bait team. That wasn't a good good deal. If you're going to be bait, you want to be protected. Yeah, you want to just be slaughtered while they all just. Watch hanging out under a dead body for a wee while and then killed off. Yeah, that's sad. But yeah, Ali was stone cold. I love that shot of the hilltop with them all charging in. We saw that in the trailer. It was cooler in context because it was just a flash of it. We got on the trailer three seconds long. And any other thoughts on the butcher small gathering. They'll never get old, by the way, that was so good. Good naming, Emma, No, I think that's oh my chat for that. Okay, Well for my first section, I have Confessions of a desperate step mother. It was dropping all her, Chris, how desperate was she? First of all, they were found really easily. I did call that last week didn't that. I almost missed it. So I did miss it the first time, Like I saw them sitting there in the corridor. I didn't even click that there was lantern light or anything. I just saw her sitting there in her wee tunnel. And then in the next scene she was out and Rinia was shouting her. So I inferred that she had been caught. But it wasn't until the second watch where I actually saw the guards and going to There's So that was anti climactic and kind of a waste of time. And to be honest with you, see, if they'd stuck those Butcher's Ball scenes the end of last week's and missed that Allison thing out, that would have been a great episode. Yeah, that would have been a good end to an episode. Yep. I would have been down with that because I mean, timeline wise, it took about the same amount of time. I think if they'd done that and they'd opened this week rather than whatever that was and then what we got of Butcher's Ball, Yeah, we could have done it how they did Burn and Mill, Yeah, with just all the bodies. Yeah, they didn't need to do any more than that. We would have inferred from that Okay, this was a huge this was a massacre, and yeah. Yeah, exactly, although I do feel a bit a bit robbed because we didn't get fish Feed and now we didn't get Butcher's Ball, and it's. Like there's a lot of chat and not a lot of action. And I'm okay with chat chat it's important. But I just not getting enough action. I think the ratio is all wrong. The ratio is way off, the pacing is weird. Yeah, I mean there's definitely some episode three issues that we had, but we won't go back to that. But other than that, I can't say I've hated any scenes. I've just not had enough of what I've been waiting for. Yeah, what I expected from this season, but it's both slow and rushed. Yes, I don't know if that's a skiller. I think that's a unique talent. How do you pull that off? Oh, dear, Yeah, well done, well done, Ryan, you achieved the first But yeah, we actually you were talking about this. You listen to an interview with George You were telling me at the end of last week where George said that I liked about Dan and David. This was in twenty ninety or twenty. Eighteen, twenty nineteen. This interview was right. It's on the audiobook version of Fire and Blood, and George says that what he liked about Dan and Dave during season eight was that he likes to turn things. Up to eleven and that. They dial it up to thirteen. Yes, and he loved that about them. Yeah. Right, This is where I feel like the House of the Dragon has falling short, when there's a potential for turning it up to even just eleven. Forget thirteen. Just turn up to eleven. We get eight. If they could turn it up to eight, that would be might being. Over genders with it. Yeah, yeah, maybe I am, But yeah, it's not. There's no eleven or thirteen moments. It's a consistent seventy eight. Yeah, with like a few wee moments that might push a nine, but just moments. Overall, it's like seventy. I mean, honestly, the set is amazing, crops, the special effects, the act. A, music, the cast is. It's all fantastic. So why the directors are great, the writers are great, But there's just something there that's just not it's just not pushing it. Yeah, And I don't know what that is. I don't know if that's thing. I think it's I feel like it's these crazy Walk people. Yeah, it is trying to be a bit walk. Well, I consider myself to be reasonably walk enough that I don't got about offending people, you know what I mean. But oh, it's just I don't want that in my medieval fantasy dramas. No, there's nothing that comes close to the hounding area or the red wedding. Like there's there's nothing shocking. No, we've not had anything shocking since well since last season. Actually last season was quite reasonable in that sense. We had all the red so was pretty shocking. The chopping off with Melis's head, that was that was awful. Yeah, yeah, that was pretty shocking to although out the books. These are things that are in the books. Yeah, well, not to be offensive or anything. Let's let's, I don't know, go with the Walk team here, but the materials right there, like you had a guide, had a guide. Yeah, a luxury that Dan and Dave did not have, Please stick with they did. They just chose to not expand book four at all and jump straight to book five and wrap it all up there. But yeah, no, you're right, they had they have Fire and Blood. It's choose your own adventure. George gives you three options for every single plot line that happens. Why do you have to go and create a fourth? But I think this is it. I think that where it falls short is when George is no longer involved. It doesn't feel like George's work, and that's what we love. We love George's work. He's unique. There's there's no one else like him. Exactly, and one of the we'll get any of this later in our spoilery section, we're going to hold back some of that. But I feel like this episode was ninety percent off book. Yeah. I mean, I'm not saying I wasn't entertained by a lot of it. Nothing that happened with like I can relate back to Fire and Blood, except maybe theer's ball loosely, some of it can loose it loose. I see where they're trying to make things match up, like we just discussed about Black Alley and introducing melding her character and trying to make those bits work. I see where they're trying to set up Tumbleton. I see where they're trying to set up a Helena story. But it's just. Slow but rushed. Yeah, we'll talk about it. I'm more in the spoilers where we can speak for her. But for now, where were we confessions? Right? Okay, So first of all, we've got Alison given her first confession to Rania about Helena being pregnant and stuff like that. So that and then I like that, like Ranida's like, I have to keep her hidden now actually have to because people can't see her pregnant. And it's I'm intrigued by the fact that Ranida's keeping this secret at this point. Doesn't make any sense. Ranida's grieving for her boys. She would not be friends with this woman. It doesn't make any sense. No, it doesn't. And she wouldn't protect her child and grandchild makes no sense. And I'm not even going to moan about it being so off book at the moment. I'll get back to that why that is. So offt book and so ridiculous, But even just taking it on face value, yeah, it doesn't make any sense for these characters, given what. She's been through. I mean, we've got that the line from Alison, We're sorry, Ranida says to Alison, you're a high tower to my court. You're the enemy, and Allison says and to Younas like, do not try me so in reflection, and what you said is like, I think that's part of what they're trying to get across the Allison still thinks that they can be friends, but Rania is kind of not in that same place. But at the same time, she has given a lot of allowances. There's definite like there's an emotional attachment there that Ranida's trying to hide. I did like the sort of manipulation that you feel from Rania with the I'll look after her. Oh yeah, yes, there's been more of that. I would have really been on board with that. I mean, like, okay, that makes sense for these characters that Ranida's like, yeah, she's. Intrigued by the fact that she's a dreamer. Yeah, that's what really got Yeah, like, let's you want to hear that, Claire, Yes, let's do that. Where is he. Parana? My riders have searched for Vega. They're half and I didn't. I I know where Vegar is. How did you come by this? There are times when Helena. When Helena sees things, you'll sound mad. They have nightmares or or puzzles, but the thing she does see now and then they come to pass. She dreams. She's a dreamer. Like Demise who fort saw the dooms. We twinkles and really as eye there. If what you say is true, if Amon has separated somehow from his dragon, then here's one man on foot and being hunted. He will have hidden himself so he cannot be found. I have told you all that I know. His capture must now fall to you and your council. No, if I send swords, he will flee again, go to ground. And be lost. But the music's brilliant. If I send just one sword. With someone he trusts, see, that's good. That's good. That's good. Right then, Yeah, I'm on board with that. That her character would be like, I don't feel bad about sending you to do that. No, exactly, she didn't feel the slightest bit bad. And again it's one of those off book things that I can. Get on board with. We're trying to find something for Alison to do better than locking her in herself for six episodes. Yeah, I mean this whole Alison going to Haronhall thing. I mean, it's like I liked it for Vernera to deliver those lines. But I don't know about how I feel about it. For the plot, I'm just gonna have to get off my chest. Vernera's awful. Really she she sends Allison and Helena to a brothel, yes, and. Says, oh no, does she did she actually do that? She did. She sent them both to a brothel and said, see how you see how you feel to have your own bastards? And she did. She did. She did actually do it. I remember that part, but I remembered it as something Massaria was telling her to do and not as something she actually did. She did do it. I don't think anything happened them. I think they were brought back or they were never pregnant with bastards or anything like that. But they were sent right, Okay. I think they were beating up and stuff. But I don't think. See this is a problem. I mean, that's not a spoiler because that's not happened. Yeah, they haven't done that. They've went in a different direction with this, so and I can't see it happening now at this point in the story. So it's not spoiler. It's just a fire and blood spoiler. So that's okay. But this is the problem. They've made Runia quite a sympathetic character, and now they're going to make her unsympathetic. Just give her the character arc that we want. We want to go from the realm's delight to this awful person. Yeah, and that's the point that we're not getting awful person. We're getting, well, she's doing awful things for the right reasons. This is back to that woke thing again. We're not getting That's what we loved about Game of Thrones, the character arcs, how awful Circe Lanister was and when she was through the street, shame, shame. We all felt a bit of sympathy we did for Circe, and you would never have thought in a million years you would feel sympathy for that character. It was so well done. And we're just we're not getting that. Who said the shame line in this episode? Somebody said shame? Who? I don't know that that? What was it? Somebody said shame? I don't know, I can't remember. Maybe as we talk about other things, it'll come back to me. So what else have we got going on? Oh? Yeah, Massaria lies about knowing about it. Oh, that's going to come back to bite her on the ass, isn't it. I hated that scene. Yeah, and what's with that jacket? That was incredibly modern, wasn't it. I didn't notice the jacket. What I noticed was, you know when Ranina's like, hm, and did you know about this? And she literally stops and Rnda keeps walking. So at no point is Renina going to be like, here are you coming girl? H what? No? Very performative for the camera, but like had no sense. It made no. It didn't like an intelligent person would pick up on that weird behavior. A paranoid person would pick up on that, and she's supposed to be hugely paranoid. So what we get is her asking a weird question. So then in the next scene we see Missaria arranging to get rid of the maid that was the witness. Yeah, the secret that's diabolical. Yeah, oh she's gone dark. So Massaria's character as well, is a bit of a bit of a disappointment, I'm thinking, because she's supposed to be a really good mistress of Whispers, and yet I'm not feeling that at all. For example, while she was floating about trying to figure out what Allison was up to last week, there was a whole conspiracy going on with the gold cloaks and everything, and she was oblivious to it. Now, Massaio's reach isn't widespread throughout the Seven Kingdoms or nine, but she's supposed to have her eat to the ground in King's Landing. This was going on in King's Landing and she's completely oblivious. I'm a bit disappointed with that, to be honest with you. I heard someone say that I can't remember it myself, but I heard someone say that her foresight, because of her whisper knowledge, was so. Good that it was like, is it magic? That's the way she came across in the book that she was is there magic going on here with her? And yet no, not getting any of that vibe. I'm getting a mediocre whisperer a best. So that's a bit disappointing. Maybe there's good Massaaria moves to come, but. She just seems to be mistress of knitted brows and shaking heads at the moment. And arguing with Damon. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. I Mean she had some good scenes with Alison last week. I liked those scenes in themselves, but while there was something else that was way bigger going on that that's her territory. That's what she should have been involved in. So a bit disappointed in that. I'm I'm calling that writing error, Yeah, as opposed to a character mistake. I think that's fair. Again, it was this whole Gold Cloaks thing is off books. So if George had written that, Missariov would have had some information, you know, I mean, because that's what she's supposed to do. So yeah, moving on back to Helena and Alison. So yeah, we've got Helena won a. She confronts Alison about her lies about Jehea and the moment when Alison I had to save you, and she's like you or me? And she's like does it matter or what difference does it make? Plenty quite a lot actually, Like I was stone cold, what the fuck you're supposed to be winning her over here? And of course Helena's kind of piercing herself with the needle in the same very self harm, Like that wasn't good. The tapestry, So Helena's crafting a tapestry? What is that? What is that? What do you mean? What is the the person in the fetal position and what is that supposed to depict? Well? I don't know what the fetal position in the red background is supposed to depict itself, but it was on a back The backdrop was Haron Hall, and there was an ominous looking figure standing over it as well. I thought it kind of looked like a guy. At first watch, I thought it was supposed to be Alice Rivers, but I only got it for a split second before it disappeared. And then the second watch, I looked again and I thought, was that a guy? I meant to go back and look at it again, but Amond, because we've got the sapphire eye, so it's definitely aimoned is and it was definitely Haron Hall. But the symbolism of what's going on there with Amond, I'm not quite following, is it. I think that's for the spoiler section. Genuinely don't know what if. Okay, I might come back to that at the spoiler section, let me write that down. I was hoping you would have had some insight as to that. I think I do, right, but I don't want to go there to all spoilers. I feel really sad for her when when Helene I was like, did you marry me? Aggone? Because she didn't think you could marry me anybody else. Yeah, yeah, I was no one else. Yeah, And was it your idea to marry me to my brother? She's like, nah, it was a bad idea, but. I was fine with. A way of keeping her close. That's so messed up. Yeah, I'm not buying that. No, I'm not. No, that's did she look away when she said it? She probably did, I'm not buying it. Or maybe that's the lies Alison tells herself, because no, I don't think she did look away when she said it, And it would be stupid if them to put that line in last week and then have her lie and not do the look away thing. But maybe I need to rewatch that scene because right afterwards, Lena just gets up and like walks away from her, So maybe she did look away. The soup part made me eye roll. She's so concerned about her not yet in it, and she takes one mouthful of soup and then she's like, okay, right then that's me away, cherrybuye, like she had one mouthful. I found it quite entertaining in the Helena, did she feed her? Why is she feeding her? You know, like, why is she not talking to her like she's her grown daughter? She's an adult, instilling her with strength before she goes away. Like what, like, I did Allison feel? Okay, she's going to be fine Now I fed her one mouthful of soup, so she's going to be totally fine. She can't pick a spoon up herself and eat a whole bowl. Well, what I took from the scene was that Helena was finally willing to eat when Alison says, I can't go until you do, She's like, all right, then if get fucking ridy. You're not getting any pudding until you had one more mouthful. You don't eat your meat, and then if to Haroen Hall, she goes as well. So, I mean, who knows what's going to happen there? I mean, so we did clock that in the trailer that there was a scene where Alison looking and horrified and it looked to be Haroen Hall. So yes, we weren't imagining that. Yeah, that's great because there's been a few things that I saw in the trailer that didn't play out at all like we thought they were going to. So that one, yeah, I mean, time will tell how that's going to play out. But it's an intriguing twist. I suppose don't love it, don't hate it. We'll see where it goes. Okay, come on, say what you really think. No, I'm tired of my own ragging on the show. It's difficult. There's still nothing like it on TV, like in so many levels, but just falling flat for me so much. I get so frustrated where their there are wee plot holes and they're weird directions that they're going in and I don't know our reserve judgment. We'll see how the series plays out. Okay, any more thoughts on Alison and Helena. I don't think so, not until the spoilers cool. That means we're back to you. Oh, Gwen saved the day. Let's talk about GWayne because this was his episode. It was He was the man of the episode. He was absolutely brilliant. Definitely so hasn't he just had a bit of a character arc. He really has. We've had a lot of development for going in this episode. He's we journey we call certainly had me warming term. I loved his line that I haven't slept in a feather bed for weeks. Yes, and he's like, I've fought in battle, I've made friends, I've watched Friends die, and Ormond's very dismissive, isn't. He's just like, yeah, yeah, you've had a hard time. Such an urse. It's totally that. Actually, that line kind of took me out of it a little bit, the same way it did last week with Luther Largent saying it's been a minute. When I heard the line, I heard, it's been a week since I slept in a feather bed. That's what I've heard, right, And I'm like, well, it's been a bit longer than that. I thought he said weeks. Well, this is the thing. That's what I thought I heard the first time. Then when I watched it the second time with the subtitles, it said it's been weeks in the subtitles. So then I rewound it and I closed my eyes and I listened again, and I still heard it's been a week, right. So I'm unclear whether I'm hearing it wrong or whether the subtitles were wrong. But I heard twice it's been a week, but the subtitles say it's been weeks. I didn't watch it with subtitles. I heard weeks, right, Okay, So if you heard weeks without subtitles, maybe it was just me. Bizarrely though, my first watch, I thought he said a. Week a week, right, and you were like, it's. Been longer than a week. Yeah, So the second time, I'm pretty sure he said it's been weeks. It's been some weeks. It's been weeks. Oh, speaking of which, when we were editing, remember a couple of weeks ago, maybe in last week, maybe the week before, when we had a little debate about how long the timeline has been since like Rook's rest, right, Yeah, it's been about six months, six to eight months. Right, Ok. So Rook's rest was in the summer, not the summer, but the middle of that year, because summer's last year, so it's not that it's not the summer, but the middle of the year. And the fall of King's Landing was early the following year. So it's been about sixty eight months. Okay, while that pregnancy situation is now more bizarre. Yes it is. Well, we'll see how that plays out. I mean, judging by the trailer, it's going to play out soon, so we shall see. But anyway, where were we Back to GWayne? So he's not afraid to stand up to Ormond, No, he's not, And I don't know if that's been a thing that's always been between them, but I got more of an impression that GWayne has changed what he's been through, has made him a different person and more straight to the point yes with Ormond than he maybe has been in the past. Yeah, yeah, definitely. You got that he's not slept in a feather bed for weeks. Yeah, he's filter is gone. Yeah, he just needs some sleep and his patience is zero. I kind of loved that line from her, and he's like, see rooms, make sure he has a bath. But there was there was lots of good build up to this, actually, with the Barrathy and Envoy turning up with Rania for a start, and do you know, actually, did you notice because I meant to go back and check if it was the same guys or if it was just different guys in the Brathy in uniforms. I can't remember visually, but I know that Rania says give me your belt. Yes she did. Yeah, I know that was that Rania saying give me all your outfits. They're going on other people. That's kind of what because I don't. Think that she'd be able to trust that. She wouldn't she wouldn't. I'm going to assume that it was different guys, because because when I watched it the first time, I was like, I'll have to check. I can see if it's the same guys later on, And then when the scene came around, I was like, oh, it's been too long, I can't remember, and I'm meant to go back and look at them back to back, and I've just forgot. It stands to reason and logic that it wouldn't be the same guys. So let's just take it that it wasn't. And if I'm wrong, it's coming up on screen now. So I get when he comes in at first and he's like, sir, Christen fights on and and you're here. Yeah, when he's like fighting on was madness, and Norman's like, do you think me mad? Your grace? Wheren's like, no, sire, No. I love that he's calling him your grace and he's still calling him sire. Yeah, Like that's an imbalance of power, isn't it? Massively, So did you notice the little line from dre on when he was walking out with Queen for his bath and he said I managed to keep him from you know, yeah, what is you know? I don't know, Gwen knows. Yeah, I don't know. I don't think I want to know. No, no sounds sinister. Yeah are we are we implying like s a here? Possibly A lot of people were throwing that about last week, and mostly it was kind of dismissed and oh it kind of could be. But Ormond has just made some weird, weird jokes at. Very sexually weird jokes. Yeah at Gwen Queen's face is brilliant. It's just like, fuck off, mate. You whatever, listening to this my whole life as if what he said backs to the wall, remember for fuck off, it's so rude. So we definitely gleaned from these scenes that Gwen likes duck, yes not goose, if that's the right way around. I can't remember, but you'd get the point. Yeah, that means that romance we were sensing last week wasn't there in our imagination. No, No, it might be one side aid, but there was definitely some romancing going on there. But Ormond was very rude about it. He was he was definitely There was another comment as well he made, you're consoled by your soldier friends or something that wasn't the line but that was the implication. Yeah, so there was that as well. Anyway, what else you got. That scene before Gwain goes off and he's refreshed. Ormond is such an urse and Gwyn handles it relatively well. He has one small answer back at him, but other than that, he's very tired. He just he just wants to go and get freshened up. But the next scene right where we see them together is the one with the fake Brathians. It's brilliant. It's so brilliant. But I love that The next after that where they're standing at the window and Ormond is he apologizes. Yes, we never hear Ormond apologize, but he's like, I have to apologize. That was pretty good, well spotted. Definitely, shall we hear the club of the moment, Gweene's moment if we might see the king in person, that we may have been the knee before him. So obvious. Yeah, his grace, Darren Tagaria, the first of his name, King of the handles the Rohina and the. Darren and Arian Barathian has her of light Chester. He's about a foot to a hand. Has it happened? Far more company? I will crave the bitch from Crown to plant. She will die wishing she never did, oh. Dear, And then we have cut off the vomiting. We don't need to hear that. They need to hear that. It was bad enough that we had to see it. Although it was kind of hilarious. It was hilarious. I loved how disorientated ormondes. Oh yeah, there was some good things going on the sound design there. Yeah, he was all over the place Jobby bombs man like absolutely, if that's why it happens with a couple of smelly soldiers, what's Yeah. We needed the jobby bombs. Yeah, definitely, that's face two. Yeah, this this was a bit more on brand. So there's poop, there's vomit, there's blood, there's jokes. This is more on brand, like lots of gore. Yeah, like. It's not unexpected though, No, it was a bit obvious. Can we see the King in person? Gwen had them sus way before that though. He was just waiting for and I think Ormond maybe would have if he wasn't so disorientated. The plan was Ormond would be in very intelligent. Yeah, the smell definitely knocked him off. It was. Yeah, I think he would. Have burned the plant, smell the bruin. He hadn't been so put off by the smell. I kind of definitely smell shite. I smell shite. Oh, by far my favorite scene. Yes, it's a great, great scene and great character development for GWayne Ormond was great. I did call it that he was going to go to Tumbleton and he was going to be a great guy. Yes, in this connection with him and Darn as well played out. It's one of the only things I like that's changed from the book. Yeah. I really like it actually, and I like the like Dwayne, Dwayne Huey, Dwaene. Darron's character is much more flat out than he is in the books through GWayne and Ormond, and we're certainly getting a lot more development in the High Tower side of things than the book ever gave us. And I'm actually really enjoying it. Yeah, so happy with that. Did you have other thoughts on Nope, Oh there's that line. I'm sure you found solace with some of your brothers in arms. He's like, oh, yeah, you've had a hard time. Oh so sick, and Darron says, I'll never be king Uncle. We both know it. He knows. Yeah, and Gwaen's going to old Town to pick up the pieces because he's. Second in line. Oh if only that could happen for Gwen. I think that might be a struggle given where he is. I don't see that in his future. I think it's all going to go to shit at Tumbleton very soon, probably next week on Darron, did you see my mother? That was? It is what I feel. It's going to be so hard for him when he realizes what disappointment she is. Oh, we probably never lived to know. That's sad. Oh yeah, an Ormond saying that Runia made a great choice making Corliss her hand. Yeah, that was interesting. Its weird. Did he say that Corliss smelled of something? Oh wait, yeah, there was something. I can't remember it though. That was something metaphorical, but his choice of he smelled of and I thought, oh, that's that's very you. Oh what was it? He said, I can't remember. I kind of want to hear the clip now. It's annoying me. Okay. After a brief consultation with the episode, it was he said, there's a soundness to his breathing. Yeah, it wasn't a smell. It was a sound like it's just weird, like a weird thing to say or to notice. There was a soundness to his breathing. Yeah, okay, did I'll take your word for it. When were you in a room with I don't think it's metaphorical breathing though, it's like what is that pass? Who knows? But he certainly admires the man. Yeah, and last week he was going on about the yellow Toad. He seems to admire his strong enemies. Yeah, he does not admire Ranera, though he's got a lot of derogatory words for Ranera. Yes, but he's he's a sexist, homophobic, abuse of lunatic. So yes, with some weird sensory things going on here. Oh yeah, he said what about my grandfather? Where do I start? And he clearly has no respect for his Uncolotto either, But yeah, I wrote down here as well. Like he says to Gwaene afterwards, you did well. So that was that was nice. But Gwen had a good arc. He did for sure. It is a good episode for him. Glad he left Cole. That was getting a bit depressing. I mean, how many pep talks gonna guy give? I don't know. That was something weird done, requited love going on there, and he stepped up and moved on. Red flag. This is going nowhere right, So next we have the Harron Hall hatchery. Cool, lots of creepy, cryptic stuff going on with Alice, Like, what's going on there? Is this manipulation? Is this feelings? What do you think? I think it's both. I think it's both too. I think some of the feelings going on there. The chemistry between them is genuine. Yeah. I think she's sensing some sort of kindred spirit there and I think Amond is too. Yeah, definitely. This seems to be the first time that Amond isn't seeing a woman like a mother. No, although they kind of look that way a little bit last. Yeah, last episode, that was the vibe. This episode, it seems to have the relationship seems to be moving in a different direction. Yeah. Actually, I just want to call out something from last week that didn't make the audio cut of the episode. It was something I noticed and the editing and it's visually highlighted on screen by anybody that only listened to the audio version. Just want to point out the last week, the thing with Alice with the bats was not magic. It was slight hand. She was fumbling this little stone while she's making her speech, and right before the bats come, she throws it over her shoulder, puts her hands on her hips like all in one movement, and as you hear the stone land in the audio clip and then the bats come. Yeah, so it was slight of hand. That was definitely no magic confirmed on this occasion. Time will tell if there are other magic. But magic was actually debunked in this particular scene. So for anyes that didn't notice that, sorry to bust your bubble if you were excited about the magic bats scene. Sleight of hand. So yeah, Aimond wants to leave and go and get Nana. He's like, oh, she'll find me. Well, my thoughts on that are, if it's time to find you, she'll come and get you a hairn Hall stay there because Alice has got a point. Yeah, there's kind of a bounty. You've got a kind of. Few distinguishable features. Give me a horse, they say, I love the stable. Boy takes one look. I was like, one eye. Shit, your powers of observation there sinking to none. Young man. You probably shouldn't call him that to his face, not even the bad eye he can still hear you on that side. What was it? She says, she's got some some weird, creepy cryptic stuff going on, which said, a frog in winter sleeps under the ice, even you must sleep. And fair point. Is it possible vagar flew away as a way of protecting you? Yeah, yeah, first line of sense, Yes. It was unless she's given Nana some werewood paste. Yeah, and that has passed out with some trees over. Her some paste fed goat perhaps. Tripping bat real bad. Anyway, we digress. There was lots of pleading and bonding and all that going on between them. It's all very interesting, but I forgot all of it as soon as the dragon eggs came out. Yeah, shall we hear that clip? Have you forgotten your history? Dream Fire? Your ancestor, rain A Targarian came to Harnhall after the death of her daughter, and she grieved and grueled here the dragon lade a clutch of eggs before Raina herself died, and they have sat here, cold and abandoned these hundred years. I do not know the ways of dragons, but I have long envisaged the return of the Targarians to this ancient seat. I mean, for my sense, what I put my hand to with this beneath the start? Do you imagine that you alone know what it is to be cursed? I'm tired of this desolate existence, and so I think, are you You've been alone your. Whole life aiming? Can you not imagine. What it would be. To having otherwise? M great Lord Drop loved it. I mean, dream Fire was a prolific egg layer. Lots of people speculate that Danny's eggs came from dream Fire, and she laid a lot of eggs that dragon, and it stands to reason that in the fifteen years or so that they were hanging around in Haronhall, that she laid some eggs there too, So this would be after the Alissa Farnam eggs. I was just talking about that when I did my rewatch. Yeah, yeah, because my husband said, oh, does that mean these are the eggs from Game of Thrones? And I said, well, no, because there's five in this episode here and there's only three. And then I said, actually, I think those eggs that Danny has are the ones that were stolen by Alyssa Farnum. Yes, although House the Dragon are implying it's the ones that went to Pentos with the boys. But I'm going to take George's word for it. I'm going to go with with Alyssa Farnum. It's better set up. But yeah, loved it. It's great. There's some eggs going on there. What I did love was that Amon said it's warm. Yeah, that was cool, very cool. She says, there's an ancient strength here. Let the gods turn their back on us. We will make our own fortune. I will be the lady of the water, and you the dragon lord by my side. So what I did wonder about the egg being warm? Is this where we're going to get mourning from? Well, oh, this is a spoiler conversation. Well, let's wait till the spoiler section, right. Have thoughts. And then she offers them sons cryptically that you're a prince and your sons will be princes. Well, she's rubbing up against them, got allir feminine weals on the goal of. The Yeah, they wouldn't be true born sons though, unless they're they're married. Unless they're married, and after. Given, after everything that's happened regarding illegitimacy, that. Would be a blunder to make, wouldn't it it would But more of that in the spoiler section. Yes, so yeah, I loved it, loved the Lord Drop. Really enjoy every. Time we're in Haronhall. To be honest with you, it's just so spooky and. I love the just the first line of that, like, do you not remember your histories? Yes? Lord Drop here, Yes we do. We do. Were sitting here, remember, and please bring it to us. We're just waiting to see if you get it right. Yeah. But yeah, lots of cool stuff, so that means we're back to you. We have got olf. Elf has been another favorite for me this episode. Yeah you hate him last season, didn't you. I thought it was a pen but he was. This season has been really funny, very and this episode I thought it was quite funny. It's it's whiny, like I just want to be back at the pub my mates, and I'm not allowed. Do you want to hear that? Click? Yeah? Market more? Do you remember market Dan King's landing? The nostalgia for those were the days. Fruit stalls, Honking tried as shouting hot Pies took it all for granted, didn't we. I will soon be the same again, I imagine, But we're not the same are we. We weren't in service back then at the beck and Call of the Queen, sleeping on. A hill. Alone, she stopped me going to the Taverne one hour with the lads. What's the point in having a dragon if no one's around to see it? Would you go back to where you were? Did man? Scrabbling around in the dust? No, No, I can't say my life has been improved, can you? Probably not fat at all? I mean it's all true, Yes, it's all true. But pretty party, it's funny, it's quite hilarious. I think if we're looking at the reasons that the dragon Seeds might start to feel a bit animosity towards Runia. Yeah, and then maybe change their perspective. Not being allowed to go to the pub seems dead petty, But that progresses in the episode. Yes, it does, it does. He's taken a bit of flak from Damon all season, to be honest with you. Yeah, Andrewnia, I think, and lots from Demon, lots from Demon. But yeah, so he just has to have. He seems to have such poor luck. All the people to buy it. Yeah, it's like, oh, not even allowed to go to the pub and see the lads so he does try and make that happen and then bumps in a bloody demon of all people. Let's hear that clip. That's your priest. Yeah, you're great. What is your errand it I was. I thought, it's like Thailand, I'm taking the air. Are you not commanded to stay in the keep on guard? Well, yes, in a manner of speaking, excellent, I'm not that bloody hill for days at a time. Men deserve their simple pleasures. Keep us going. You yourself shouldn't understand. Out. I'll set foot in the city again and I'll. Put out your eze. So this is funny from our perspective, not from Wolf. No, and on that. This is on the back of the conversation that he has with the guy that he stabs in the ear, who's just said, and we're everywhere and people are going to see. So then this happened and everybody sees and Elf is just a regular guy. And the people in Flea Bottom are looking around going not happy with that treatment of one of our own. No to them, was it just a gold Cloak roughing up another person? Or did. Gold Clock go Larry or lady lady? That's both times I watched it. I was like, oh Damon, Yeah, but yeah, did you think he was recognized as Damon or do you think they just saw a gold cloak beating up a random. I'm not sure, And it would depend on how much of the conversation they heard when he's like, my prince, you're grace. Well, one of Ormond's little birds was definitely saw the altercation. Is that the wee girl? Yeah? Because I thought, oh, is that a little bird or is that just a representation of innocence? What is that? That was the little bird from last week? Right? It was the same one that went running to the guy that Damon had just killed. Yeah, so she was involved with him and then she saw the scene. It's like she's waiting to go running to maybe tell the guy, yeah, not knowing that Damon's already disposed to him. But like he says, they're everywhere. They're everywhere. We are legion. Yeah, shall we hear that? Class? Yeah, Diamond's talk area. How many? How many of you are? How many? We have no number? We are everywhere? What did Roman tack? That comes you? Gold? So it's table and he takes a throne. There's a king waying just outside these walls, and until down the there and takes his going full place will not rest. Then your kind will die and dragon file or trample down by my army. Psh. You like wasterorime city? What's you set up and riding people with swords? You'll never find us with the people of the seven kingdoms we have in that sign city. And when you strike us, you only drive more to our course. You rebell against one who is neither. Wish's not done. Yea. You can ban us, you can kill us, you'll never make us embracer. Well, how was if we stab you in the throat? Let's just go for the year. That was the year, wasn't it. Yeah? Yeah, so that's that's ominous. There's obviously they have not cut the head off the snake there. There is definitely more to come. Actually, I just picked up on something in that clip that I didn't on previous watches. Well, I did pick up that he called them data on the dating. What just clicked in my head there as we were listening to though in Fire and Blood. Take a shot if you want earned that name. Yeah, he hasn't done anything to earn that name. Yet, bit rushed. Yeah, let him do something before you start calling him there on the daring. I haven't seen do anything daring yet. This the vast move. Maybe that was daring. You quickly backed out with that one. He did for sure. Sorry I'm a mistake, but yeah. So there's lots of layers of what's going on in Kingsland, and we'll get more into that any later. Did you have anything else to add to the Oh. His line about for one that has never wished or done you harm, and like this far it's actually correct. It is so the fact that the small folk are feeling such hatred towards Runia is kind of unjust. Yes, yeah, I mean you can't give them what they want. But actually I really loved that the thrown room scene when she's like somebody was coming to her about money problems. Just like I've told you before. It's torn manderly. You need to see about that. Not my problem, No, my circuit's not my monkey's. Poor scepta that says that the girl has been abducted, and I was like, oh, well she has my sympathies. I'll like a candle for her. Yeah. I was just standing there shaking her head like no, no, it is going badly. It's not good. But while we're on that subject, and Nita gets nicked on the chair exactly the same way that Vasis does. I think it was a pinky. Yeah, yeah, I definitely think it was a pinky. Well, let's hope we don't get the whole leprosy or whatever it's had. Well, I think that takes time, doesn't it. That's probably not something that we have. No, we don't have time for that, That's what I'm saying. Let's hope it doesn't. Yeah, we don't go there, because no, we don't have time for that at all. Oh, there's a really great shot actually from above as Wenira panics after getting cut and she gets off the throne, and you're like, yeah, the above shot of her on the throne, the throne just looks so cool from that, and then what sorry, the leg it scene, Yes, the leg it's scene. Indeed, get the fuck out here before anybody knows, and nobody noticed. Nobody did notice, which, again, if you're going to do an iconic book moment, people noticed in the book. While I didn't want them to do it because you know, kind of wener supporter most of the time. Getting less like that every each week goes by. But up to now, and I really didn't want her to get cut with the throne. I didn't want the throne to spurn her. But when it happened, they're right, Yeah, like, make somebody see it, because otherwise how did it make the three books if nobody saw it? Oh yeah, while we're on the subject to Damon though, or we've been on the subject of Damon, I just had. One more note here, going. Like, Damon is just so counterproductive at council meetings, It's just so ridiculous. And then I saw, like I've been saying this for a couple of weeks, and then in the behind the scenes Matt Smith, it's like, why is he even there? Like I'm glad we're on the same page, man, Like why is he there? He is absolutely useless and just makes everything so much worse, although while making good points, he makes them in a counterproductive way. Oh, speaking of council meetings, we do have a little clip. The insult must be answered. Now we must do what we should have done in the first burn the villains. Then Omend gets what he wants. A queen, your murders, loyal subjects cannot be trusted, we. Know whether the trade was intrenched himself. If I fly directly to the foota stronghold on. A dragon, I presume a beast well known for its delicacy and precision and battle. Ah, yes, what a marvel a flame? Excuse fourth and discern with pure magic who is blameless. And who was? Again funny but not helpful. Damon, you're throwing a player with brilliant No one says anything. Yeah, just like this is demon We've all come to expect. This behavior is Torrent's face like shit? Best shut up now, Oh dear, who'd have thought that Sabbath afree and Torrent mandally would be a comedy due? Yeah, that's an unlikely pairing, isn't it? So? Did you have any other thoughts on ul for the goings on in kings Landing, as we said, kind of segued into that. No, But what I. Would say is, while we were listening to the clips, I have fact checked my Allison and Rania are being sent to the brothel. Yes, yes they did, but only by Helena Helena. Yes, sorry, yes, but only by mushrooms account Ah, which is that's a different thing. That is a different thing altogether, And house. The Dragon have chosen to not even cast mushrooms. Yet again, very sad. Do you know what if they were to bring mushroom in, it will be next week singing a song ripping the piss out of Kristen Cole. That would be great. Ellison does hear the song of them, but it's actually ripping the. Best Okay, right, what we got left? So my last section was a very short one. Actually it was just to discuss I mean, there's a couple of other things to discuss, but we'll do that in the wrap up, but just to just give a little bit of a wee bit of discussion a the way Corliss's story played out, because it was the final scene of the episode. It was our cliffhanger, so it feels like we should talk about it in the main section. Almost put it in a you know, side plots because it was so it does feel like a side plot, but it was also a cliffhanger. But so was Alison and Helena and the Walls. Yeah, and look how that turned out. Nothing happened, But I feel this may be similar. I don't know, this one might be a wee bit more or he has been Well, we're hoping kidnapped because yeah, I mean these men were clearly slaughtered, which is inconvenient because they were just about to head back to King's Land and to reinforce. Ah okay, I've just had an epiphany. Maybe that's why we had that line from Ormond about him. What has he said he liked his breathing or something, So maybe he has instructed his men to not kill Corliss. Yeah, bring him to me. I want to hold him, preceder. I want to question him. I want to get inside this man's head. Maybe he's talking about he's breathing because they've been spying on him. Oh maybe yeah, while they sleep. That's interesting because it doesn't The line's very strange. It is a strange line, and I think that might be the only way it could make. That's the only we we're explaining it. Yeah, that's my head cand of now. They've been like hanging around spying cordl as well. These leaps using Varus' time machine. Yes, yes, yes, bould John Roxton was absolutely using Varises time machine this week. How the fuck? I mean they're at Tumbleton, which is a few miles south of Kingsland, and not sure if it's in the double digit. Oh, Kingsland and Tumbleton is about one hundred and fifty miles. Great, where did you learn that? I have no idea why I know that. I'm going to fact check that. That's great, Like you have done your homework this week. I love that. So even if that's one hundred and fifty miles, okay, and then we've got corliss Is cleaning up in the crown Lands for the Triarchy soldiers that are still lingering about. Oh no, no, hold on, I'm i I'm wrong. Okay, it's actually three hundred to three hundred and fifty miles. Oh wow. So no, not the time machine was in play. Absolutely, the time machine was definitely in play. Tumbleton lies in the southern reach on the Mander River, yeah, while Kingslanden is on the east coast in the crown Land. I'm looking at it the map over your shoulder on horseback. It would take about two to three weeks at a normal pace. See, I think the thing is is a lot of people picture Western Ross is the size of Britain because it's kind of based on Britain. I've got it. What So, an army would take about three to five weeks. I know how he's traveled. He's shrunk himself down and he's on a raven because it takes a day or two. There you go. It's not a time machine. It's a shrinking machine. It's a shrink I shrunk John Roxton. We knew Ormand was smart. But wow, that's pretty good. No. I mean I'm looking at on the map behind you and I'm thinking to myself, Yeah, so Western Ross like it because it's based on Britain and kind of Ireland turned upside down with a bit of Britain stuck on it. It's like a lot of people. Think it's the size of Britain, where it's actually the kind of the size of Europe. So if that was on a British scale, Kingsland and a Tumbleton would. Be about thirty miles. But yeah, thirty fifty miles probably in the British scale, but in a European scale it's three hundred and fifty miles. Like you're saying, that's a big distance. So the time machine was definitely in. You know, it's a shrinking machine with decided it's a shrinking machine went by raven. It's the only thing that makes sense. I love it. So first of all, we've got the scene with Corless at the beginning as well, when Alan goes to see him. Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. Yeah, and it's clearly still pissed off with Runira. Of that awkward chat. Corliss is like, she denied your legitimacy, and Alan's like, so did you for the longest time, So here we are. Corliss was totally clammed. I missed that line. This is fresh for me. I'm paraphrasing. Obviously, I'm not. I get the point though. That's funny, really good. But obviously, what however, Allan says, does convince him to come back, because he does change his mind. It might have been that, Yeah, it might be that, absolutely, but we don't really see Corliss again until the end. Yeah, listen, Li's here. Corliss's little speech at the end, you have thought, like sharks, swift and relentless, we have cut through our enemy. I right, that. Would have been nice to see some of that. Yeah, your blades. Are needed in the city and I have been too long away. And then there's like a kind of time lapse here, so it's like Corliss is making the speech, but when what we're looking at Corla's standing afterwards, when everybody else has gone to sleep, it looks like just pondering to himself. And that's when these well John Roxton comes across some and I'm hoping that I feel like this was a kidnapping, not a murderer. Yeah, it doesn't make sense for it to be a murderer. No, I don't think so. I think that's what that line was all about. I'm going with that. Yeah, yeah, definitely. And given the way that we've the way that we've been present with Ormond's character, he likes to learn, so I think he's going to want Cordless, Yeah, because he'll want information from him. He will want information and you want He's an insurance policy, isn't it. Yeah. So he's got Tumbleton and he's holding Tumbleton hostage and that's put it off up til now. But he also knows she's got Damon in her neid and eventually they will attack. So holding Cordless is that it's his insurance policy to hold her off. I think that's what that's going to be. It also stops a very successful tactician. Giving her any kind of encouragement and help. Yes, yes, and oh no, we'll save that for the spoiler section. I have another idea, we'll save that for spoilers. But yeah, we've I think we've pretty much covered John Roxton's time machine and this weird turn of events that none of us saw coming. Again, I will reserve judgment and see how it plays out. It's too early to decide if it's good or bad. It's definitely different. Right. That bring us to our dragon section. It certainly does. Well. It's a pretty sparse dragon section again this week. Really nice to see Vermathor and silver Wing having a wee wee. Island for dragons. Yeah, yeah, that was nice. They're so cute. They were cute. They're my favorite dragon couple. Yeah, it's very sweet. I really do like it. It was so brief. I missed it on my first watch. Oh I didn't. It went right past me. I mean I saw the dragon like as vermouth Or lands. It was a blink and you miss it situation. Yeah, and then I think I looked away and didn't see them like approach each other, because I knew the scene as soon as I heard someone else mention it later about the dragon cuddle. I was like, oh, they missed it, but it was very cute. It was it was very snuggly, and there was literally no other Oh there was there was. We saw really far away? Keep up? Is it a small dragon? Is it really far away? Father dead? So yeah, moon Dancer and sheep Stealer? No, moon Dancing and Sea Smoke? Right, Okay, that's who. This is where my confusion came in with this because I thought, why are they Why are those trackings beside each other? And then you know, just as a viewer, how are you supposed to know that that's sea smoke? And then we have this weird bit with Reina, which we'll get to. So it was so ambiguous what happened Like this, you've just skimmed right over that. Guys, like, how what is going on in that situation? What did Reina do that would for me? I'm like, oh, well, did she was that sheep stealer saying hello to moon Dancer? So if that's the case, what's the problem Because Reina wasn't on sheep Stealer? But that makes sense then if it was sea Smoke. But then at what point we didn't see any of her being on Sheep Stealer going to go and say hello, and if it was so, if that's Moon Dancer and Sea Smock, why would she then go like there was there was rubbish. It was. It was rubbish. It was so skimmed. It was rubbish. So it come back to the really far away dragons, right. I had a different perspective on it, and that's because I watched the stupid short midweek which I was like, what a lot of nonsense saying that I don't know if this was in the trailer or something, and this is where this came from, because I thought it maybe something I'd missed in it in an episode. But it was the shot of these dragons in the distance and there was two of them and one was smaller than the other. And this short was saying that Raina had hatched morning. Oh for goodness sake, so it. Was Sheep Stealer in Mourning and I was like, oh, maybe I missed that, and I was like, no, it won't be that, it won't be. I didn't buy it for a second and I just dismissed it. So then when I saw this scene, I thought, oh, wait a minute, is it And then no, I realized later that it was it was a mun dancer in Sea Smoke. But yeah, so why you were confused? But then I had this extra layer of confusion on there as well, because I'd seen this weird short saying that somehow Reina had managed to be the only person ever to have two dragons. Like no, no, no, please, no that like if that is where they were. No, No, that didn't happen. Just no, and I don't want it to No, So glad that was bullshit. Yeah, but so yeah, but then like you say, we get to like we see that, and then the next thing, we're in the veil and Raina's been dragged in after some guy's been thrown out the. Windoor and then gets a big slap in the shops. Oh that was a beauty A slap though, Well that was a good gin didn't want to get on her bad side. No, And I'm thinking she's given Rana this huge hard time about like being seen and all the rest of it. And I'm thinking, there's quite a lot of people in this room. How can you trust every single person in this room? Do you know if it's such a massive secret. Well, you get the impression that she was with her trusted circle, because they'd thrown that guy out the moon door, and I'm assuming this is the guy that came and said I saw Raina. Well, I saw the dragon, whatever came, I've seen this dragon. It was with a rider. He's reported it to his liege. Lady and he's got thrown out the moondor for his troubles. Bliss. What a shame. But then, of course, so I get the impression that obviously the people in the room were in the inner circle, but there's quite a lot in the inner. Circle if it had been two people. Well that's what's that old saying to you can keep a secret if one of them's dead. Yeah, yeah, Like there's a lot. Of people here, like can you trust all of them? Yeah, that's that's a lot. Yes. Weird stuff, weird stuff going on with Raina there. I mean, there was a time at the beginning of the season with what they were doing with Raina and Sheep Stealer and kind of this overlap when Nettles her living in the mountains thing where I thought, actually, if you're going to honor the lower of Nettles and Sheep Stealer in the mountains with this character. Then fair enough, but I'm not getting fire witch. I'm getting feral girl in the mountains. Yeah, she's not doing anything. And for fuck's sake, Glass, you get a wash. Yeah, she doesn't need like, she doesn't need to be this dirty. I'm sure there's a stream about somewhere. So Raina's plot for me is falling a bit flat this week. It's she's a bit pathetic and desperate and she's supposed to be this character that tamed a while dragon. Let's see some of that badassy and I'm not getting that at all from her. I mean there might be a payoff later. Are we into spoilers now? Can we talk spoilers now? No, because we have an important rip to get through and then we can move to spoilers. Okay, let's do it right. So moving on to rip. In this episode, first of all, we said goodbye to some sacrificial rivermen. Yeah, when you outnumber the other side by so many and yet you still have to die. Mud fodder, what you got? We also said goodbye to moondor. Man wndoor guy. Yes, the veil grass. I don't know I would land at the bottom, but here we are. I think it would be more like. I can't even do us flat noise. That's sorry. We all heard one in our head as soon as you said that. We also said goodbye to Ormond Spy. We are legion, yes, mm hmm, stabby in the ear man, but you chop off one limb, another one grows in its place. Your ear. We said goodbye to the band of fake. Barathians or the fake envoy. Much less comely. And he'd be prettier. Who else have we got? I think that might be all? Have we made it to the main man? Who's the main man? Today? We said goodbye to Sir Kristen cole. My last. That says it all, guy. It shows how much I just don't care. I completely forgot. That's funnier than any elog. I'm going to try my best. He was a man who dedicated his life to proving that if you never process your emotions, eventually the entire continent will have to. He was the patron said of I'm actually the victim. He served to kings, one queen, and one grudge that outlived almost everyone. The realm lost a great warrior, but it's gained a remarkable improvement in the national mood. His greatest enemy wasn't Damon Targarian. It was emotional resilience made the father judge him kindly because literally, no one else will rest in peace, Sir Kristen cole Rania already has. We shall never see us like again. Oh yes, oh dear, And the man died and all I thought was good shot, that was it. I felt nothing. Oh well, that's sad. Fabian will be. Mass Well, I'm looking forward to seeing Fabian and other things. Definitely, definitely, he's got a long career ahead of him, hopefully with more charisma more than shoe leather. So right, we're going into general side plots, and at this point we're are firmly in spoilers guys. So yeah, let's talk about Raina spoilers first. Okay, the I don't know what it was with Raina the spoiler, but I remember mentioning was is that warm dragon egg going to be mourning? Yes? You did say that. Yes, that's on a different subject, but let's do that now, right, So, first of all, is that going to be mourning? No? Because the in Firing Blood Alice says that she has a dragon, so I think it's going to be that dragon So later on, after the war's over, after Amon's dead and everything, and people are going around trying to get Haron Hall back from Alice. Alice says that she has She says that she has Amon's son, but she also says that she has a dragon. So I think it's going to be that as opposed to mourning. They've not stuck to They're not sticking to the book though, So that's why I thought what they've done with Raina, Raina is not supposed to be Raina's now netlks. Raina should be a lady, like she should be getting married and that's no how this is working out, and then she should. Have a thing with one of the corbres. She yeah, she's married, she gets married. Off, she marries him, and then she marries someone else and she has two marriages. Does she not? I can't know. She marries a high tower in the end, does she not? No? I think it's just the corbery guy. Oh hang on, I'm going to have to look that up. Carry on anyway, But yeah, if they're not going to run that with Reina, how are they going to bring the last dragon into it? So my thinking was, are they going to use that warm dragon egg, and Alison is coming to Harron Hall. Alison never goes to Haron Hall in a book. Is that dragon isn't the last dragon? She's not. No, Sir Arlen says that he's or the last dragon. So this is after some time. He says that he saw the very last dragon and it was a twisted and deformed thing. And and at this point for that one to be the last dragon, Morning must have already be dead. Yeah, but we're in that twenty year time gap where we don't have much information, the same as the Alice Rivers thing that we're just mentioning about the dragon she claims to have. We've got a twenty year time gap where we don't know how some of these plots resolve, and that's one of them. Well, I wondered if Allison takes that egg back to Jihearah. Oh oh interesting. Jharas should already have a dragon though. Not that we've seen. I'm only going by show stuff. And how are they going to how are they going to cansol the raina thing. They were going to resolve and Jha had to had a dragon each called Shrikos and Morgol, and they should be in the dragon Pit. But we haven't seen that in the show. We haven't that. It hasn't been mentioned either. There's been no reference to We've had reference to Helena having dreamfire, yeah, but which we haven't seen, but we've had reference to it. We haven't had any reference to the twins having dragons. Yes, she does. She marries Garment High Tower. Yeah, so Corwyn Corbury first and then Garment High Tower second. Ah, I don't remember that. It maybe happens as to Corbrey. That's a very good question. Dies one hundred and thirty five Act Runstone and how did he die? And a crossboat men on Runstone's battlements loosed to quarrel and pierced him through the breast, killing him. Corwyn's death was considered an act of treason for striking down her regent was akin to attacking the king himself. Hm. This is five years after the dance, four or five years after the dance anyway. So like Raina has politicking to do in the well, there was a lot of politicking that went on with Raina and in the book, Oh, that's not going to happen. No, that's definitely not going to happen. Now, I mean, there is potential for this. This is what we're going to say about Rena. There is potential for this to come back around again when we get more interact interactions with her and Damon, but that could be next season. I don't see that happen in this season. I think this season Reina is just dead weight now, and she was dead weight most of last season, like she had like six minutes of screen time or four minutes, so that was running. That's funny because it's true. So yeah, we'll see where this goes. But careful what you wish for Rena. What's the line she says here is all my life, I have yearned for a dragon, and now that I have one, I've lost everything else. Yeah, careful what you wish for next on the we have not discussed and open to spoiler's chat is Hue and cat. Or This made no sense. It was rubbish, wasn't it. It was rubbish? Second watch, it made a bit more sense when I tried to just view it from the perspective of the show and like what they're trying to do there. But I get that she thought he was dead and the terrible things happened to her on the way there and she felt she had nowhere else to go. But I don't know, I just thought, well, that was rushed and wild, and. I'm getting the impression that you're struggling the articulate what I'm thinking. But she's that one minute she was all happy to see him, and then the next minute she was like, I don't know if she was. Of course, I think she was surprised to see him. Yeah, then she was overwhelmed and couldn't stand up and her legs gave out, which looked on the surface to be like, oh, I'm so happy to see that I've collapsed, But I think it was just complete overwhelmed, like I thought you were dead and dead yeah, and you're the last person I expected to see. And then he's getting all grabby with her and trying to force her, and then she's like, I don't even know who you are. Yeah. Well, actually she turns on him the second he mentions dragons. Yeah, he said, I claimed the dragon. She's like, is that what this is all about? Which seems weird, which I didn't like. She's not had any terrible experience with dragons. Yeah, Like I didn't. I just she just I didn't find it plausible. No, I just felt like, why are you, like, why are you mad at him? Yeah? Why are you mad at him? That's what I didn't get. Why are you mad at him? He told you what he was going to do. He's now come back and told you he did it. You're going to have a better life now. He's going to look after you. He's here to try and get you out, and if you love him, fucking let's just see where it goes. You know things are going to be better, they're not. But spoiler alert, No, and she seemed. Like she lost her daughter, she thought she'd lost him. She seemed okay when we saw her last season last episode. Yeah, her brother Dane seems to have completely tipped her over the edge, and then seeing him has took her to a different place of crazy. And I just I'm not buying it. Not, I'm not. I didn't like the scene at all. I was interested to see where they're going with Wolf and using cat as maybe a catalyst for him turning, But I don't like the way this is going. No, if she'd been killed in front of him, yeah, I could see why that would turn him the other way. But this just seems a bit meh. I mean maybe that's still to come. We'll have to see if you're going to base a show on relationships and that's the route you're going down. I just think that was a bit knaff. I thought so too. I did not like the scene at all. You smell different, she says, that'll be that vermouthors gang. Yeah, oh dear so yeah. I don't really have any other notes on that. Next on the why list is Alan and Bayla. Oh god, I hated that as well. Yeah. Again, it wasn't plausible, it was rushed. Oh man, he's barely cold. It was just weird. It was so first of all, like Alan asking Baila to speak to Corliss on his behalf, Like, I don't think that's going to help. I don't think she's really that close to him. No, and he knows that well. I mean, Baila was. Award drift mark before all the shit kicked off, wasn't she She was? Yeah, and I mean he's our grandfather, but. But she was. He wasn't there. He was away off one yes body voyages for years and left Rainy's alone. They don't have that close a connection. And to be fair, Alan, I think you're getting through you better than anybody else has so far. So that was weird that he asked that. But that isn't what I hated about the scene. It was just this romance thing that was very rushed first time, like they had a conversation on the beach and like episode two or something like that, and then they don't I haven't seen them speak again, and in the next scene that they can't. You know, they're compelled to each other. And it was Baila that initiated it. So she's she takes a step towards him, and he's like, no, I think you should go to bed. Didn't stop her though, she continues to walk right over. I mean, once they're in that personal dance space thing, it was like, Okay, where did this come from? Yeah? Rushed? Yeah, definitely not. How it goes down in the book either. No, not at all. And that brings me my final section I've got here. Is Is it even fire and Blood anymore? No? No, it really isn't. So we've got this difference with Corless be abducted or whatever. That's that's weird. What's going on with Alison. Alison never goes to Haronhall. No, she doesn't and she doesn't get trapped in the walls or any of that nonsense. E No, although they are playing it like a secret so but no, not getting it. Helena's pregnancy doesn't make any time sense. Not this it's not been fully explained. No, it's I mean, she's six to eight months pregnant. This is weird. She wasn't even pregnant at this time in the books. She already had all our kids. Exactly, So it makes no sense. Mailro was two. Yeah. Next, Oh, there was another thing with the tapestry. We were going to come back to the tapestry. So you were asking about foreshadowing. I was wondering, I mean, it might be symbolic or whatever, but I was wondering if this aiming in the fetal position was some sort of representation of aiming and Alice's baby maybe, you know, aiming pro creating. I don't know. That's just what w through my head when you were saying it earlier, and I was like saving for spoilers. But yeah, so I'm wondering if that was supposed to be the womb yuck yuck, Tumbleton's all piggoty piggoty and back to front. Yep, we've talked about Raina the tapestry. Yeah, what what's going on with that title sequence? Tapestry where the person is ripped apart? Is it a child? Is it an adult? Is it I thought it was a child? So that then, is that where we're getting mailer? Yeah? But why are they foreshadow and shit in a tapestry? They don't normally foreshadow. It happens an episode after the event. The new things appear in the tapestry. But I've been looking at things all season since about episode two, Like there was the crowd and stuff like that, and it was just like, well, we haven't had a scene like that, so why are we seeing these small folk crowds and things. And then there's the ripping. The ripping's been happening in various different places, but in this occasion. It rips a person apart that looked like a child. They've just gone rogue. They've gone rogue. But you do you, Ryan? Yeah? I was here for it. Now I'm completely confused. I don't know what's going on exactly. I mean, we started off this season saying, you do you Ryan, We're here for it. Let's see what you've got well we're six out way in. If this is what you've got, well, I don't know if I'm here for that. I'm here to the end, like I mean, I'll see it through. I mean, I'm not quite. It's wildly off cannon at this point. It is it is. I don't have a problem with embellishing, Like what's going on with Aimond Analyss at Harroen Hall. We don't know what went on between Alis, Aimond and Alys. All we know is that they were Aimon went to Haroen Hall, committed some atrocity, and we will latter he shows up with a pregnant Alice. That's all we know in fire and blood. So embellishing on that, that's cool. I'm here for that. But what's going on with Corless is completely changing history. Yeah. I don't like this. I don't like the changing of history. Even the thing they did with Auto putting them in the cells all kind of disappears from the story anyway. So yeah, you could almost say, yeah, that's maybe what something like that happened, because there's nothing to contradict it. But no, And I don't mind what they've done with Gwen either. No, because what they've done is condensed characters into one character. And as long as you do that well at which they have done, I'm here for it. I'm okay with that, and who. Knows, maybe they will do this thing with Corliss well, but it was just too much of not fire and Blood this week. Alison and Rania is so off canon. I'm just desperately bored with it. Now. They're just trying so hard to give them scenes together, aren't they. Yeah, and I thought they were reaching last season with Alison going to Dragonstone for trying to give them and the whole thing of the sept as well. Yeah, when they're meeting in the set, that was like forcing scenes together. Now they've got them in the same vicinity, they're overdoing it. What I would say is, though they're all acted really well, I cannot fault the actor. Oh me, neither. They are really good. Bad think the writing's a bit pish, and I think the direction is quite rushed, and it's. Not the dialogue right, and the dialogue writing really good. It's the storyboard. And that's what I'm having issues with. The arcs that they're planning out for all these characters. I'm having issues with their arcs. The dialogue right in is really good. It's just there's just so much of it that it's like, why, why are we wasting time on this? Meanwhile we're not getting things that we do want. Yeah, it's just jarring. It's jarring me. And I'm not against changes. I'm not against changes, but this is a lot of changes, and they're all in one epic concentrated in one episode here where I don't know, ninety two percent of the episode was all stuff that's not book canon, and I just would like to see more iconic book moments play out. Kristen Cole's death come on, missing out the line that was that was too far? That was disappointing. I mean, Ira Parker did miss out a line, but he was on read at the next morning apologizing for it after the episode released. I don't see Ryan Condall doing that, no, I mean it has only been nearly twenty four hours since the episode released. Is this what happens though? Is this the fate of a fantast plastic writer who's created a world and then as a part of things in the initial and they're great, and then when that writer is no longer a part of the show running, it just goes to shit because you've lost that magic because that person is the magic. Yeah, yeah, that is a problem. I think that is a problem. And we look at the Witcher as well, same thing. Love the books, struggle. I like the TV show, and then I read the books. It's the same Rings of Power. Yeah again, yep, definitely it's But then again on the flip side of that, to sit and look at like the work that Ryan and his team are doing, like, it's not going to change my opinion of what I'm saying, but it must be shit to you know, put your stuff out there and everybody. Hates Maybe not everyone hates it. Maybe we just we together in this room are having an issue with the way things are playing out. Yeah. God, if I pick any individual plot point, I don't hate it. I hate the way that they're forcer Alison and Runia interactions. I do hate that. But then the scenes are great at the same time for their acted really well. If they were more hateful towards each other, I would enjoy it more. Yes, because that's more true to how it should be. I would agree with that. So how are we going to turn this around and finish on a positive note? The next two episodes are going to be absolutely awesome. They are. I have faith I do too, I actually really do. I think it's going to be. I think we're going to get Next week is your classic penultimate episode. It's going to be a battle. It's going to be twists and turns and things are. Things are resolved and closed down, and then we bit of wrap up in episode A and some set up for next season the way it should be. That's what I'm I've got hope, thinking good things.
